Dr. Maria Montessori, From Childhood to Adolescence

School History

Our school was founded in 2016 by a group of founding sponsors, and a team of dedicated educators. Together they have created a school built on a common desire to implement the exigent demands of Dr. Maria Montessori’s pedagogy in a community based on the idea of coeducation with parents.

Educational Mission

The child is at the center of our educational mission. We strive to guide each child with his/her own intellectual, physical, social and emotional development with respect and dignity. This consequently leads the child to their fullest potential.

Ecole Montessori Papin is a bilingual school (English & French) for children from 3 to 12 years of age. Our school implements Dr. Montessori’s scientific pedagogy to guide all children in an inclusive environment. We aim to allow each child to flourish both physically and intellectually as an independent being. We encourage each child’s sense of curiosity, wonder, and the desire to work independently. In doing so the child will continue to learn and explore new fields of knowledge with enthusiasm.

Each member of our educational team holds a diploma from the Association Montessori International (AMI). The Montessori approach to education is not only a pedagogy, and a method, but an intelligent educational answer which is in harmony with the natural laws of development as described by Dr. Maria Montessori.

The Montessori Method

We apply Doctor Maria Montessori’s scientific pedagogy with care. We help and guide the child in their global development while respecting his/her individuality and his/her own rhythm, along the following fundamental principles :

  • Prepared environments, conceived for each plane of development as an answer to the specific needs of both the child and the group.
  • Scientifically elaborated material, tools appropriate to accompany and support the child’s self-construction.
  • A bilingual and multicultural environment, with a view towards the rest of the world, the Universe and each child’s culture.
  • A framework giving the child opportunities to experiment and develop his/her abilities for self-discipline, independence, liberty, responsibility, creation and adaptation.
  • Learning how to live together, developing civility and respect, cooperation, and mutual aid. Supporting the development of a social being, a community member, without judgment.
  • A climate of trust and benevolence.
  • A constructive collaboration with parents, based on the fundamental idea of coeducation.
